ABOUT
My name is Josie Lam and I am a fresh California State University, Long Beach graduate. I obtained my bachelor's degree in Health Science with a focus on Community Health Education in the Spring of 2022.
After obtaining my degree, I hope attend a PA program and eventually become a certified, well-trained physician assistant.
My main goal is to bring a sense of comfort and ease to the future patients I will be attending to. I strive to provide all patients with equal care with no regard to race, class, gender, or sexuality.
Personal Philosophy
Throughout the years of my life, I have always aimed to make decisions with personal integrity and with no malice. I believe these two components are extremely important in the health field because of the care and responsibility healthcare workers hold on a patient's life.
My personal philosophy has come from a quote I came across when I was younger, "Kindness. It doesn't cost a thing, but it means everything". Throughout our days, we all come across strangers who we know absolutely nothing about or what they are going through. A simple act of kindness can make someone's entire day, and even has the power to change the world. I believe that kindness radiates a positive energy that inspires others to pass it along, creating a never ending ripple effect. This is the environment that I desire to create in my future workplace, where all people are free of animosity, oppression, and injustices.
I feel that personal integrity and kindness are critical in all fields of health, whether it be health education or health care. It is essential that all entities feel comfortable and safe in their environment, where all are uplifted and inspired. Not only this, but educators and practitioners should stand confidently in their beliefs, avoiding any type of conformity to inequality or prejudice.

A Message From Josie
Listed below are three pieces of work that demonstrate my skills and competencies. Please click the green tabs to access the files.
1. Lesson Plan
This Lesson Plan focuses on youth vaping education and prevention targeting early high school students (grades 9 & 10). With this project, I learned how to create an effective lesson plan with detail to time, activities, and assessment.
Areas II, III, VI, VII, VIII.
2. Health Program Evaluation
In order to evaluate a school-based health program, I analyzed the study with regard to sampling methods, program design, and threats to both internal and external validity. This project pushed me to apply logic models and theories for a complete, detailed evaluation.
Areas 1, IV, VI, VII, VIII.
3. Youth Vaping Infomercial
Composed in the form of a presentation, I created a comprehensive video focused on youth vaping: nicotine, side effects, risks, consequences, protective factors, etc. The project advocates youth vaping prevention and ultimately putting an end to the addictive product.
